Charlotte has been asking us to take off her training wheels for a long time now. We were dragging our feet taking the time to teach her. I thought she was probably ready but I remember practicing and practicing when I was about 6 before I got it down on a two-wheeler and quite a few spills (into the rosebushes etc.). As with most things with Charlotte lately she was overly ready. She'd been sneaking in practice on the twins' strider bike whenever they would let her and she was a pro at balancing and gliding with her feet up. One day I told her we could take them off but cautioned it would take a few weeks of practice so she needed to be patient. I took off the wheels told her I'd grab the camera from inside and be right back out to help her. I came out and she was doing it like a pro. That was easy! I was so proud of her! The twins are probably ready too- maybe I just won't get them training wheel bikes! I think the strider really helped teach her balance. She seems so much older now that she's riding a bike and reading!
Very cool Charlotte! I think the balance bike helps a lot. Spencer and Tanner are both riding with no training wheels now. Spencer even rode his bike to school for the first time today.
ReplyDeleteCharlie's riding a big wheel! Charlotte looks too big for that bike! Impressive bike skills.
ReplyDeleteWow! It looks like that balancing bike really helps. Good job, Charlotte. Love Grandma
ReplyDeleteI love your kiddos so much! I'm proud of that Charlotte, too!
ReplyDeleteSo fun. We have yet to get around to taking Brielle's off! It took so long for our boys to learn--but I think I need to be the teacher this time and not Dennon. . .
