2 at 2 Months

I'll let the pictures do the talking first. Look at how much they've grown!

9/1/10 2 months old night owls. I love Oliver's face!
8/1/10 1 month old. These are my favorite coordinating outfits so far. Thanks Becki!
7/15/10 2 weeks old
7/10/10 1 week old- notice the same faces from the top picture!

The twins had their 2 month check-up today. It takes not only 1, but 2 babysitters to take them to the doctor. Luckily Auntie Kori took Charlotte, and Auntie Marti came along to the doctor to help hold and dress babies. Everyone with twins should be so lucky to have so many friends and family close. When the twins had fevers at 7 weeks I attempted to take them by myself. It was possible but much harder and the poor nurse had to help so much she could hardly do her job.

Here are the stats from today:
Oliver
Head 15.5 inches (+2 inches from birth) 45%
Height 23.25 inches (+4 inches) 60%
Weight 10 lbs 10 oz (+5lbs 5oz from birth almost double birth weight!!) 25%

Abigail
Head 14.75 (+almost 3 inches from birth) 8%
Height 21.75 (+ almost 4 inches) 10%
Weight 9 pounds (+5 lbs from birth! A pound more than double her birth weight!) 4%
I love, love, love this watermelon skirt! Check out the double chin and chub on her cheeks! I was so proud when I had to clean between her chins in the bath!

While most of their percentages (especially for Abby) are still small they are doing amazing on growth considering how small they were to start. Their growth charts almost looks like a straight vertical line up. The doctor was very impressed when I said I'm exclusively nursing. He said I must make cream. And while people commenting on breast milk kind of weirds me out I'll take it as a complement! I am eating a ton! Oliver gained only 1 ounce less than Charlotte did at 2 months when I was only nursing 1 kid. I am so impressed that they have both doubled (again-not hard to do when you're so small) and Abigail is a pound over twice the weight she was at birth! Now they are approximately the weight of very large newborns! We've moved on to size 1 diapers and 0-3 month clothes (although Abby can still use the smaller sizes). Can you imagine if we all doubled our weight every 2 months!?
Abigail is an excellent self-soother. She really likes her pacifier- which is a miracle to me since Charlotte spit every pacifier right out!

My first attempt at appliqué. Back when their multiple chins didn't cover their necks.

They have been really good babies overall. They eat well and still sleep a lot. Most nights they will go at least two 5 hour stretches which means I only get up once. On a good night (Abby especially) they will go 7 hours which is awesome for their size and age. They are pretty mellow and will just hang out during the day. Very rarely inconsolable. Any crying is usually quickly solved by being held or fed or put in the swing which they both love.

They are both so smiley now. They love it when you talk to them. Oliver is starting to make some babbling noises and trying to laugh when you tickle him. He's super crazy during tummy time. He can hold his head up 90 degrees and quite often rolls over or wiggles himself all the way across the living room onto the tile. I have to watch him because he often gets turned so he's kicking Abby during tummy time! Charlotte didn't roll over until 4 months. Even though I wouldn't call it "intentional" rolling over yet it's still pretty crazy that he does it so often. Abby is much more chill. She will usually just lay there wide eyed or fuss and then fall asleep- unless brother is kicking her!

This is how they sleep. These swaddles are a lifesaver. Sometimes they get their arms out and wack each other. Oliver's been found trying to suck on Abigail's nose when he's hungry! Sooo cute!

They are definitely staying true to how they acted in the womb. Oliver was always much more active and had the hiccoughs a ton and still does. I would worry about how I couldn't feel Abby nearly as much and she is so calm most of the time now even when she's awake she's very content. What a blessing! Both of them are calmer than Charlotte was as a newborn or in the womb. Let's hope they continue to be such good babies.
1 week old. This is roughly the position they were inside of me. It's no wonder my stomach was HUGE!

  5. So according to your doctor you're not lactating but rather cream-ating...oh wait that doesn't sound right.

  6. Thanks for taking the time to do such a thorough update, Erin! I loved all the pictures too. Glad to see that they got to wear their coordinating outfits. They looked adorable. Abby and Ollie are looking great. I can't believe how big they both look and how much they seem to have fattened up in the face (definitely a good thing) especially Abby. Great job nursing them, momma!

  7. 1) I have taken three kids (not twins, obviously, they were 2, 1, and a few weeks) to the doctor's before and I feel your pain! It was so exhausting!!

    2) Yay for you nursing and them growing! I've had to go on a super-fat diet with a couple of my kids just to fatten up my milk. But it worked like a charm! (Too bad their milk intolerances start around 6 weeks, because that was the easiest way to fatten up my milk. At least I had six weeks, though.)

Oh and my twins and Lucas have all doubled their birthweight by 2 months too! Must be something small babies do.
