Rules I've Learned While Feeding Charlotte
1. If you start by feeding them lots of vegetables they will most likely like vegetables
2. Because of rule #1 they will possibly clamp their mouth shut and turn away for all fruit and meat unless it's hidden in their vegetables or cereal. I'm guessing and hoping she'll outgrow this. I mean who doesn't like fruit? Not MY kid! I am also definitely a meat lover. I don't think the pureed meat counts as meat though because it smells like cat food and I'm too scared to taste it... so I just feed it to my daughter!
3. It might be necessary to pretend to give the baby a drink to sneak in a spoonful while their mouth is open. Matt discovered this trick.
4. It might be necessary to occupy their hands with a toy or by holding them in order to avoid them whacking the spoon away with amazing speed and accuracy thus splattering food all over the feeder and the surrounding area
5. The airplane sounds and motions with the spoon actually work sometimes as does saying "Ha" real loud, surprising them into opening their mouth. Sorry no video footage of this one.
6. Most likely the first time they eat something new (no matter what it is) they will act like you are poisoning them by making disgusted faces and gagging
7. Even after getting a spoonful in their mouth they will continue to run interference by spewing it out or making large raspberries with said food, again all over the feeder and surrounding area
Charlotte is actually a pretty good eater. I have been able to get her to eat everything I've tried. She eats pretty well at every meal as evidenced by her sumo wrestler like figure! She's already trying to grab the spoon and feed herself but she usually gets it everywhere and gags herself in the process.
Not every baby makes such faces and noises. Charlotte had fun reactions! Good work feeding the babies, Mama and Daddy.
