UPDATE: Wings is now #1 on The NY Times Bestseller list!
"In this extraordinary tale of magic and intrigue, romance, and danger everything you thought you knew about faeries will be changed forever."
I know an author.
This author to be exact.
Matt's friend Kenny's wife Aprilynne Pike just had her first book Wings published. It came out last week and it's already #6 on the New York Times Bestseller list! We have a New Years Eve tradition going with them (okay we've done it twice) where we get together and play games. Aprilynne is super nice, smart, and fun! I'm so happy that she got her book published! If anyone deserves to get a book deal it's them. Kenny just finished up law school at BYU and they will be moving back to Arizona with their 3 cute kids soon.
I would say the book is geared for girls in their early teens. I've always had a soft spot for YA books. Matt and I read it together and we thought it was great! It's a quick read, well written, good plot, a little real life, a little fantasy, a little romance what more could you want? The Stephanie Meyer (who I have also met) endorsement on the cover can't hurt anything either. I personally think this book has a better writing style than the Twilight series. If you want more details and to see an interview by Aprilynne click on this link.
Congratulations Aprilynne!
Matt and Aprilynne at her book signing in Tempe. Matt jumped in line so he could say he got the FIRST book signed at the FIRST official book signing. I think he's even more excited about this than me!
Charlotte at her first book signing. Can you tell she's listening intently to Aprilynne?

That's really neat, I've heard that getting your book published is a difficult task and often doesn't happen. Good for her! I may have to look into this book, sounds good. I'm always looking for a good read. If you have other suggestions I would gladly take them :)
ReplyDeleteWow, in a week it's already #6?! That's amazing! This has nothing to do with the book, but I found incredible comfort in reading that they have three kids and are just finishing school. Just nice to know that I'm not alone in the universe. There are other crazies out there. ;) I mean that in jest. And love. I feel cool that I know you guys. You know, close friends with a famous author. Yeah, I'm moving up in the world. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind words, Erin. I really appreciate you guys supporting Aprilynne and being at the signing. And I look forward to many game nights in our future! We needn't relegate it to just New Years! d^_^b It will be fun to be back in Phoenix again on a more permanent basis, with our own house.
ReplyDeletethat's too neat. Sounds like my kind of book too! Great pic of Charlotte!
ReplyDeleteCute picture of Charlotte.
