THE HALL BATH
The new color- it looked a little more teal in my head but I still like it.
After most of the painting was done the kids and I spend the entire week of fall break up in Cornville with my parents so Matt could start the destruction, electrical, and installation phase. It was ugly- poor Matt has been working so hard at the job that pays him and then comes home and does this for another 5-6 hours before he crashes. My fall break was much more relaxing!
THE KITCHEN
Proof of my impeccable house keeping. I probably shouldn't show you this. In my defense I did try to clean it but my arms were not long enough. The black hole- most of these balls are not ours. The toe kicks were ripped out in both corners for some unknown reason, anything that dropped on the kitchen floor would inevitably end up in the depths of the black hole.
Interesting Dumb method for finding a stud.
They're out! More drywall patching and painting- we painted it the same red color by the way just eggshell instead of semi-gloss. It's WAY different can't you tell?
Why we don't live with a HOA. We would be fined on a regular basis for stunts like this. Matt put them in the front driveway on Monday. No one hauled them off, they were in pretty bad shape to put on craigslist and he had enough on his plate... so on Friday the cabinet guys took them away. You're welcome neighbors.
Matt bought a wet masonry saw (you hook it up to your hose to cut down on the HUGE amount of dust) and cut this baby out and put in a metal conduit with electrical for the island. There was wet cement slurry all the way up the wall and on the ceiling. I was extremely relieved and impressed when it actually worked!
After another round of touch-ups on the drywall and painting. Ready for the cabinets.
Hallway cupboard- more drywall and painting touch ups (are you seeing a trend yet?). I was just going to leave the hallway yellow for awhile but now it's partly grey so I guess I'll have to finish it. Notice the contrast with the new grey paint on the clock wall and the yellow paint in the hallway.
Coming soon... installation of all of these babies- it's looking pretty awesome!
Feel free to stop by or call if you want more frequent updates- my blogging time is being eaten up with painting, looking for packed up kitchen items, and trips to Cornville to avoid the worst of the process. Currently the only running water is tub, shower, toilets, and hoses outside. Oh yes, we're definitely in the crazy stage. This makes our normal routine feel down right lazy.

You are one brave woman! I can't wait to see all of the changes :)
ReplyDeleteIt's very surreal to see someone else post construction photos! LOVE it.
ReplyDeleteAs for the dumb method of finding a stud, it was even worse when we saw that in our first house, because they were trying to find a roof truss as they installed new closets. They presumably knew which way the roof slopped, and therefore which way the roof trusses run. But they were nailing hole after hole in a line running the same direction, parellel with the trusses. I wonder why they didn't find one?
That picture of your kitchen without any cabinetry is so weird! It's such a sad, empty (but prettily painted) corner!
ReplyDeleteAnd, c'mon Erin! Show the world the install photos? Or are you waiting until it's all beautiful?
Wow! Can't wait to see the "after" pics! Will call you back, btw. Was out of town last week. :)
ReplyDeleteI keep hitting refresh, hoping for an update... Are you waiting until the flooring's in before revealing the cabinets/counters?
