Lehi Days: This IS your first rodeo

After living here for almost 7 years we finally drove down the street a mile to go to the Lehi Days Rodeo. We really could have walked. It is a small community just north of us that feels like it's not in the city.  Hardly any sidewalks, lots of animals, the yards remind me of Cornville.  Every year the church puts on a rodeo.  Of course it was the only day of rain in months but that made Matt want to go.  We went right at 9 and parking and the lines were great!  The weather was perfect and it didn't pour until after we were home.
First up were the pony rides.  Both the pony rides and petting zoo were FREE!

Abby is a natural cowgirl.  She let some strange man put her on the pony and walk her around with a big smile on her face.  So different from my other kids stranger/animal danger!

Olly did NOT want to ride on that pony.  Matt did one loop with him and then he got a sucker from the nice guy in charge of the ponies.
Charlotte was a little solemn, but compared to what she would have been like a few years ago she did awesome!

Olly still crying...

Next up was the petting zoo

Watching Olly's face as he snuggled the bunny and Abby as she caught her first baby chick I got this feeling of, "Every kid should grow up on a farm."  It was so cute!

Abby's pretty face- she still looks like a doll to me.

Olly's favorite part- the cotton candy!  He threw a fit because he wanted his own bag.  He got over it, when I told him he didn't have to have any if he threw a fit about sharing.

Miles not too excited.  He took his nap right after this.

We were the first in line for the BBQ lunch at 10:30 because we had a birthday party to go to!  Man was it good!  We definitely want to do this again and see more of the actual rodeo, Charlotte is asking which event she can do next year!  It was so nice to get some cooler, overcast weather.  I love family outings and rainy days!

  2. Abby did look like a natural on that pony, what a trooper. I can relate to Olly. Such cute animals and kids. Thanks for sharing. Love Grandma

  3. How fun! I've never been to that, and I thought they had stopped doing it for liability reasons. Glad to hear it is still going on!

  4. let me know when you do it again...would TOTALLY go too. I know what you mean about the farm. I want me kids to know how to work and not be afraid of animals and get to play with the animals. We are hoping to try out chicks for Easter. We shall see.

  5. I love how Abby was so brave! We saw pink boots at Target the other day and Savannah said, "Abby's boots". Too bed they were still $25.
