1st Utah Trip!

Charlotte-AZ, CA (age 1, 4), UT! (age 6)
Abby and Olly- AZ, CA (age 2), UT (age 4)
Miles- AZ, UT (age 1)

We finally made it out of the state!  Since most of our families live in Arizona for a few generations, the few relatives who live out of state come back to visit here fairly often.  Meaning, we are bums and don't go visit them!  Since Kori moved my kids have been asking to go to her house.  Especially since her old house was only one street over it was really hard on everyone when they moved.  When I heard my parents were going over fall break I high-jacked their trip since Matt didn't have enough vacation to go. We had a few older people tell us they were brave to travel with 4 little kids.  Mom and dad are the best!  We promise not to tag-along on all your trips!

Stops on the way North-
1.We went up to Cornville Tuesday afternoon.  Our fall break was the week before so we did miss a few things but it was worth it.
2.We left Wednesday morning and stopped in Flagstaff at the bank and McDonald's.
3.Then again at Jacob's Lake where we ate a picnic lunch at this great playground. Dad let me drive for a couple hours after that

We made it to Kori's house about 7pm Utah time. We got the tour of Kori's new house and the 5 older kids slept in sleeping bags in the empty basement living room. The next morning they enjoyed their first taste of real fall weather and Kori's nice backyard with a swing set, trampoline and nice grass!  So fun!

Everyone loves Miles!  Miles loves to be outside!

These girls played a ton together!  Savannah was still pretty small when they moved away.

These 3 have spent lots of hours together in their lives.  They're all about a year apart.

2 Elsas! They were so excited!
They live very close to Thanksgiving Point so we went to visit the Museum of Natural Curiosity one evening.  It was PACKED.  I've been to the zoo on free day and the Phoenix Children's museum on a busy day but this felt more crowded.  There are a lot of young kids in Utah.  I wonder what the proportion of the population it is compared to other states.
This water room was fun!

This is what Adam did while we were there.
Abby loved the stage just like at the IDEA museum in Mesa!  I like some things at the Phoenix Children's museum better but it was a fun place to go.

The next day we went up to Provo Canyon and did a "hike" (read: walk) to the bridal veil falls after a picnic lunch.  My kids were freezing until the sun came out!

It cracks me up when he makes this face!
One of the great things about staying with your sister who also has young kids is that you bring a lot less.  I used her pack'n play, we put both our youngest in the double stroller and everyone took turns pushing them, I used her high chair, you get the idea.  She borrowed a pacifier for Adam...
Adam did this.  Are you seeing a pattern. What a good baby!
Me and my kiddos.
What cute parents!

We took turns watching the kids so each of the adults went on at least one outing to go shopping or to a movie.

Kori had me take some pictures for them and I was playing with my camera before we left.

Love this one!

Such a sweet boy!

We left Saturday evening and drove to Cedar City to stay with some family friends.  My kids loved it.  Then we drove the rest of the way Sunday.  They did really well in the car.  And we didn't even bring a DVD player.  I did bring my bag of tricks, their own snack containers, new books on CD from the library, we played I Spy...  On the way home we stopped at Cameron and ate lunch in a pretty courtyard.  It always reminds me of my Grandma Beebe who lived and worked in Cameron for a long time.  Then we took a break in Cornville when we dropped off mom and dad.  The drive home to Phoenix on a Sunday night was terrible.  3 accidents and lots of traffic.  My kids were great though and slept a lot and we listened to most of Ralph S. Mouse.

Adam is such a cutie- I was so happy to meet him and all the kids were fascinated by him!  He's the first Gammon baby that I won't see as often.  Sad!
Thanks for having us Gammons- you are the best and we had so much fun! And thanks to mom and dad for letting us come and being so fun and patient and doing most of the driving!

  1. I'm so glad you blogged this trip- fun to see the green awesome grass in Kori's yard, and to see everyone having fun. Love the twin picture! Although, where are Kori & John? I didn't leave arizona until I was in done with 4th grade, I think. Turning 10 years old. we went to 4 corners and Utah. So don't feel bad Erin. Traveling with small kids takes lots of bravery. If I lived in Arizona, I wouldn't leave the state often AT ALL. At least not until my kids were ages 4+. That's when they travel a little better!
