Charlotte Goes to Sadies!

At the beginning of January at sweet brother Bowler's funeral (I think he would have loved that they started the plans there) four cute girls in our ward Kristen, Kendra, Rosi, and Charlotte decided to be brave and ask boys to the girl-ask-guy Sadies dance the end of February. Yes, you read that right, you ask about 2 months in advance here when the girls are in charge!

It involves making cute posters with some kind of food and dropping them off as a group, then the boys answer the same way.

They did their group day date to Bass Pro Shop on President's Day to do a scavenger hunt then hung out at Riverview Park and the Engler's house to play games.

It's fun they get a few dates out of one ask!

The day of the dance they had me take their pictures at Park of Canals at sunset.  The theme was cartoon characters and you're supposed to match your date.

Is there a cuter Fred and Daphne from Scooby Doo?  I think not!  Charlotte's date was her stand partner from Orchestra last year. His name was Brett.

We had Link & Zelda, Flynn Rider and Rapunzel (the frying pan was a nice touch), Daphne and Fred, and Megera and Hercules!
They were all such good sports about the pictures.  I won't share too many since they're not all my kids but they were all so nice and fun!

6 of these kids are in our ward/ my Sunday school class which is so fun!

After pictures Matt and Marti helped me host the fancy dinner on our back porch with chips, salsa, guacamole & grapes, then carne asada tacos & rice, then pazookies for dessert.  I love hosting it was so much fun!  Matt even moved the water tank and grilled the carne asada and made the salsa.  He thoughtfully left out the garlic since they were on a date- and I provided gum as they left the house.

They went to the dance which ended an hour early because some kids threw water on the DJ because they were made about the song choices but they still had fun.

Then they played games and roasted s'mores at Rosi's house for the after-party!

Probably my favorite picture from the night!  I love that they all wore purple and they look so beautiful. I'm grateful Charlotte has such nice friends in our ward to do fun things together!

Such a fun first date and high school dance for Charlotte!
