I was so proud of him. He went through every pile and even tried on things to see if they still fit. He ended up with about 4 bags to give away! He did keep a few sentimental things like a mission suit, a very ugly sweater he thinks our kids will love, and some of his favorite high school clothes. He's so funny he keeps saying, "It's so weird I actually wear all of the clothes in my closet!"
I'm beginning to realize I'll have more clothes that I don't use all the time as I change sizes through pregnancy and after the baby so that will make it more challenging. It's been hard for me to buy clothes while I'm pregnant knowing that I won't wear them that long and they are not the cutest things I've seen. What are you supposed to do when suddenly every pair of pants you own and half your shirts that you've collected over the last 10 years suddenly doesn't fit? I've bought things mostly on sale and borrowed some but it still feels like a ton of clothes. I guess I'll wear them for multiple pregnancies but still... and do I really want to always be pregnant in the summer? Probably not.
So what's in your closet?
Tell me what interesting clothes or shoes you just can't part with no matter how worn out or how little you wear it. When is the last time you went through your clothes? Who has the oldest wardrobe or the most shoes? What's your clothes system? What are your closet "skeletons"?
I WIN !!! I have the most oldest clothes and shoes and so does Dad. Thanks for the inspiration. Are you volunteering to come and clean my closet??? Sounds like Matt did great. Love Mom You too Erin for making those closet consequences begin.
ReplyDeleteI do have to say that this is one of my least favorite things to do! Since I've been back from the mission, I've went through my closet 3-4 times, gotten rid of 2 HUGE bags of clothes, but the closet still feels full! Alex told me one day it's because I keep buying more! (At least I don't buy as much as I used to!) I think we just need a bigger closet! ;)
ReplyDeleteYou're too cute Erin! Thanks for sharing your fun life with everyone!
love, Brittany Nelson (formally Rand!)
I think the '80s was an unfortunate circumstance for clothing in general... and I'm gonna go ahead and throw in the '90s too.
ReplyDeleteI went through my clothes in February/March of this year. I got rid of one bulging 13-gal sized garbage bag. I must admit though that I'm holding on to some sentimental clothes... they aren't in with the wearable clothes though, they have their own clothing-store sized bag in my closet. Including (to name just a few) a shirt that I bought in Williamsburg in 6th grade because it was green and cheap enough for my 12-year-old budget; also a shirt I made to give myself a boost for a big test I took in high school that is very stained and dirty and reads "I know more than you." I like to think that one day I'll do something senimental WITH them. Kinda like all the scraps and pictures I've been saving for a scrapbook I've yet to make.
