Two Weeks Old (she loves Eskimo kisses)
Three Weeks Old (What a face!)
Can you see any difference yet? I think she looks a little chubbier. Charlotte is already a month old! Hard to believe and not so hard to believe. She already seems so much bigger and more alert. I don't want her to grow up but at the same time I can't wait for her to learn to do new things. I feel like I'm beginning to figure her out a little better but I still feel like there is so much more to learn. I know you mostly want pictures so here they are with a little commentary. She has such an expressive face.
Charlotte and her cousin Spencer. A month ago Matt and I thought Spencer was so small... Ha! We've visited Kori and Spencer a few times to finish crafts. Kori teases that she's always sleeping. I tell her to come by at 3 AM and she'll see her awake!
At 4 weeks Dad gave Charlotte her first bottle. The first one was a little rough but she took it. The next night I went to a baby consignment sale and Matt gave her the second bottle no problem. Hopefully she keeps liking the bottle. It was nice to have a night out without worrying so much. One of her nicknames is milk face because she gets it all over herself.
Addendum to the super hero post. One morning I told Matt we were almost out of diapers (again) and I'd have to go to the store to get more. I am feeding Charlotte in a tired daze as Matt leaves for work. I few minutes later I hear the door open and Matt's back. I ask him what he forgot and he walks in with a package of diapers and a dozen pink roses (11 for me, 1 for Charlotte). What a great guy. He just wanted me to know he appreciates me taking care of Charlotte. I couldn't do it without all his help and encouragement.
Her first day at church. She slept almost the entire time. So Charlotte is a major grunter. Whether she's awake or asleep she's almost always grunting. This wasn't an issue (although she has been put in her own room a few times at night because of it) until everyone is looking at her at church because she is so noisy! The advice has already started. The old ladies at church really like to tell you how it is. "You need to prop her head up right now! That's hurting her!" You try keeping her head propped up...it doesn't work. "Maybe if you took that bow off of her she wouldn't grunt." Yeah that's it. I'm so looking forward to more advice. Everyone knows just how to raise your kid right?
I heard a comedy act once (I don't remember who it was) which asserted that sarcasm is the best way to train a dog to do what you want (perhaps a kid could be trained like a dog?) You know, things like "I really love it when you pee on the carpet Fido. You should do it more often."
ReplyDelete"Thanks for keeping me up at night Charlotte, I was seriously considering giving up sleeping anyway."
"I'm not sure if you've ever thought of this sweetie, but you're doing the best impression of a little piggy I've heard in quite some time."
The comedian's theory was that your sarcasm and mocking makes them feel embarassed for not doing things right and they don't like to be embarassed.
Perhaps it might not work on human children. A little harsh?
Gotta love the random advice people give you! I got a lot of great ones, too. (Like recently: "You shouldn't have any more kids." "Actually, we were hoping for at least five." "Don't. Stop now. Don't have any more." "Um, I still want at least five." What on earth?!) I must admit, though, that the best baby advice I got with Seara was from a random old lady at the BYU Bookstore. Seara was crying non-stop, and the lady grabbed her, said, "Try holding her like this," and showed me this really random pose. It worked like a charm every time Seara cried!! (And never worked again on my other two kids.) So bless that woman. Even if it was so weird. :)
ReplyDeleteoh, her first trip to church! I think her bow is adorable and I love that she grunts! She is way too cute and I bet you love her to death!
ReplyDeleteI love the new pictures. She is getting bigger. I love seeing her eyes open. See you soon Charlotte. Love Grandma
