Surprise Party!

The cat is out of the bag... I threw Kori a big 30th birthday bash a couple of weeks ago. I like being hostess and this is my first "grown-up" party. It felt wrong to not plan any activities. Just food and socializing. I remember thinking grown-ups were so boring, all they ever do is get together and talk. I know I'm getting old because I enjoy doing that too.

I recieved an excited call from Kori Friday morning. "John is taking me on a suprise date to see Fiddler on the Roof tonight! He said he already called you to babysitt. He's never done anything like this before!"

I played along hoping she wouldn't be too disappointed that she wouldn't be seeing a play! I should have played the soundtrack at the party as a joke. The hitch in the plan was that Kori looked up the theater and couldn't figure out why it didn't list the play for that night! Everyone got there at the same time and she recognized our parents' car but it was fun anyway. I'm so glad so many people showed up.

Turn up the sound and enjoy the slideshow. Sorry Kori, everyone knows you're 30 now!

  2. That is so sweet of you!! I love surprises, and I have always wanted someone to throw me a surprise party. No luck yet. If I told Sam that he'd probably do it, but then it wouldn't be a surprise. It's probably a good thing, I guess, because 50 bucks says I'd start crying the minute everyone said "surprise!" :)

I love the movie you made, too! I'm impressed because you didn't make some of the classic beginner mistakes. It was perfect!

  4. What are the classic beginner mistakes? Maybe Janae should write a tutorial for us?

  5. Isn't it funny how we are turning into the "Old, boring adults" that like to talk when getting together?! It looks like it was a really great party. I bet Kori really appreciated it. And surprise parties are the best! They're just a little tough to keep underwraps.

  6. Wow, I really look pregnant (aka Big) in those pictures! Since it was a surprise I didn't bring our camera. I'll have to steal these pictures from you. Thanks Erin, it was a fun party. Oh, and I forgive you for telling everyone I'm thirty.
