In answer to my question- Summer is just a whole lot of heat. Like 100-degrees-even-though-it's-after-midnight-sweaty-shirt-stick-to-your-back-as-soon-as-you-step-out-the-door-kind-of-heat. No rational person would want to live here after being here in the summer.
Which brings me to my point-
I NEED to travel!! I LOVE to travel!! It's necessary for my mental and physical health to travel!

In my mind that's the whole point of summer vacation... the VACATION part! Every year I had some fun trip to look forward to, until now. As a kid I would start packing weeks in advance, and even go so far as to put my name on MY reserved seat in the car! Here's a short list of my summer trips starting with the summer after 8th grade and my first plane trip ever...
Summer 1998 Washington, D.C.- school trip
Summer 1999 Utah twice and Wyoming handcart trek- Family trip
Summer 2000 Columbia, MO- to help Alyn move when she was 8 months pregnant with Madi
Summer 2001 Orlando, FL- School trip
Summer 2002 Utah- for a cousin's wedding
Summer 2003 road trip to Missouri and back (Nauvoo, St. Louis)- small family trip when Lia was born, Dallas/Ft. Worth TX- school trip
Summer 2004 New York City, NY- college trip with best friend; camping North Rim of the Grand Canyon- family trip
Summer 2005 San Diego, CA- honeymoon
Summer 2006 Hawaii- Whitmer family trip
I swear this picture is washed out- I'm not THAT white!
Summer 2007 Athens, GA- with Marti to visit Alyn's family for Harry Potter week
Summer 2008 San Diego, CA-babymoon, camping near Flagstaff- family trip
Summer 2009 Nada, zilch, zero unless you count going to Cornville as a vacation. How sad is that?
Summer should=Vacation
I need to get out of town and go somewhere fun... Especially now that I live in Hades. Matt is too scared to travel with Charlotte. Are my traveling days done? I know it's more of a hassle with kids, but I love to travel! I can't wait until my kids are old enough to go to Disneyland, the beach, Yellowstone... the more places the better. We'll see if I change my mind once I've done a road trip with children! Anyone live somewhere cool (as in interesting and temperature too) that we can come stay with you?
I'm so sad I can't do a blog post on my travels that I'm doing a post on my lack of travels! How depressing is that? At least most of my friends have gone somewhere cool; but instead of living vicariously I'm just jealous!
Now how do I convince Matt to leave this inferno?
