Discovering the Great Outdoors with Charlotte
It's finally cooled off enough to discover exactly how un-babyproofed our yard is. Leftover paint chips and nails don't make the best playground! Charlotte is constantly standing on her tiptoes by the backdoor straining to turn the knob and yelling and signing (her first sign and current favorite word) "BIRD!" She loves to look at the birds but I think it might also mean "Outside" to her. We need some outdoor toys and patio furniture.
On the first cool (mid 90's) day of the year I had Charlotte outside with me while I re-potted my new topiary tree in an attempt to save the poor withered thing and she discovered the hose. She LOVED it! She drank out of it, held it over her head, splashed in the puddle. She was so soaked and so happy! I had to take her clothes off in the garage and her diaper weighed about 20 pounds. Such simple pleasures. Ever since that day she wants to go outside all the time!
More Water Fun-
Spencer and Charlotte have been splashing away in the kiddie pools. I got this gem, complete with a whale slide and squirting dolphin, half-off at the end of summer clearance at Wal-Mart. We still have a good month of pool weather before I have to pack it up. Charlotte is a water baby for sure!
Living Vicariously
I don't want to be one of those parents who "has" to have their kid do certain things (like certain sports, clubs, etc) but I wanted one of these so badly when I was a kid...I found it on sale at Target for about half price (they are usually around $100) so I used some of her birthday money and considered it her "big" birthday present from us. I am definitely more in love with it than her at this point. How cute is that? I wouldn't have chosen such a girly print but with half-price you don't worry about it. Especially since I really do love the purple plaid.
Walking
Everyday Charlotte walks a little more and crawls a little less. Most of the time she walks with her arms in the air. Either out of habit from when we help her walk or for balance I don't know? It's been fun to see her so excited to be walking like a big kid.
The chair is adorable. Nothing wrong with getting your children things you would have liked to have - I think that is why toys show up in cycles of about 25 years, so we can get our kids the toys we loved or that we wish we had.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Charlotte for walking and discovering the joy of water outside. It is definitely too cold here for playing in the water ourside.
How fun to get an update on Charlotte. Loved seeing all the pictures. Now she can get into mischief twice as fast!
ReplyDeleteI always wanted a little chair just like that too! I am so glad you got her one and I am sure we will grow to love it. It sounds like she is a water baby and had so much fun with the hose. She is such a cutie! Can't wait to see her again!
ReplyDeleteVery cute chair!. It's not a lazy boy. It was so cute I had to check out the furniture at target.com
ReplyDeleteCharlotte is turning into a little girl every day more and more, not a baby girl. I wonder if Spencer will still call her a baby.
ReplyDeleteThat chair is just too cute. I can see why you wanted to get it. It looks perfect for Charlotte. Love Grandma
ReplyDeleteOkay, so I'm super behind on blogs. I just wanted to comment how funny it is that you are posting pool pictures when it is like 50* here! I'm not a fan of the Arizona heat, but every year at this time I start re-thinking it! :)
