Spring Break in Cornville

While everyone else was Spring Breaking in exotic places I went to the only place I could conceivably venture alone with my brood of three little tykes- my parent's house. Cornville, AZ USA only 2 hours of driving- with a stop in North Phoenix to see the Whitmer Grandparents, eat lunch, and use up some energy so they would nap in the car the last hour.  My plan worked perfectly- the twins never made a peep both ways and Charlotte took at least an hour nap.
Olly's first quad ride with Grandad.  He was mostly just sleepy.
Once we were there it was mostly our normal routine- just with more helpers and less sleep at night.  The grandparents, cousins, aunties, yard, dogs, creek and farm animals are always a big hit. Charlotte discovered the massive Disney VHS collection and kept them on an endless rotation.  Grandad was a pretty good sport about having his TV monopolized.  We broke him in well with endless viewings of "The Little Mermaid" when we were kids. I did get in one trip to the Gap Outlet in Sedona to stock up on their end of winter clearance.  My nephew Cai also had his 5th birthday party when we were up there.  I remember waiting outside the delivery room when he was born.  I can't believe that was 5 years ago.
I didn't get a picture of Cai at his party so here's one from the day he was born.
Boy cousin buddies Olly and Trac with Super Auntie Marti.  We need a Coulson in this picture soon please Cody!

Charlotte and Maya had a grand ol' time reading, playing dollies, taking a bath.  It culminated in Charlotte giving Maya a huge hug and exclaiming, "Let's be sisters!"  If you know how stand-offish Charlotte can be that's a real sign of how much she loves her cousins!

Grandma and Grandad keep this cupboard in their entertainment center permanently empty because it's the BEST place to play!  Thanks for giving up your Spring Break to take care of my kids mom and dad!

  1. Where's Abby? She doesn't appear to want to be in the pictures. Maybe she's a shy. Charlotte looks like Mini-Matt in striped pajamas in the last picture.

  2. How fun that you could have this visit with your family! Nice that they cooperated by sleeping during the drive.

  4. What a fun trip! I love cousins too, so it doesn't surprise me how much Charlotte loves hers!

  6. Never apologize for a family themed break - sometimes they are the very best! I'm glad you got some time out of your house and some great grown up time too.

  7. Yes Alyn, whenever Jesse moves his "Deer Head" comes to live at our house for a visit. It's too important to live in the garage (uncontrolled climate). It's usually a temporary visit. We loved the Spring Break visit from the Whitmers. We felt bad that the kids didn't sleep better for Erin. Other than that it was wonderful. Come again, Love Mom
