The Highs and Lows of Mother's Day

Highlights of Mother's Day:
  • A pedicure with my sister on Thursday night.  It's such a treat to have pretty feet and to be able to sit and just chat for a couple hours with free hands! (thanks Matt!)
  • Dove chocolate from Matt
  • a date with Matt for the first time in four months on Friday night (thanks Marti!)
  • a three hour nap for me and the twins
  • "Happy Mudder's Day I love you!" from Charlotte
  • extra cuddly Olly and a sweet Abby
  • First family swimming outing on Saturday
  • All the kids sleeping all night
Luckily I'd already done some fun things before the actual day...

Low lights of Mother's Day:
  • The 24 hour stomach flu bug for the entire family
  • Cleaning up throw-up for the first time off of me, our couch, carpet, pillows, and children (every mother has to experience it at some point- I guess I was overdue for this mother initiation)
  • Feeling like death all day and only eating dry toast
  • Bailing on my lesson at church and making my poor sister do it instead (You're a lifesaver Kori!)
  • No nap for sick Charlotte "I can't feel better.  My stomach hurts."
Matt felt so bad my Mother's Day was awful but he was just as sick as I was.  It was all we could do just to take care of ourselves and the poor kids.  We're almost entirely better today- thank goodness- I don't think my house or I could handle another day like that.  At least we all got it over with at the same time!  It made me really appreciate how easy my normal routine is compared to yesterday!  Matt even made me my grilled salmon dinner tonight- now that we feel like eating again!

  2. Sorry you were sick. I too was sick, but sweet friends took my kids away and I spent the day alone, on the couch.

  5. So sorry, Erin, but glad you're feeling better. Izzy seems to have some sort of stomach bug today. Cleaned up throw-up in the car. Now I can check that one off my mommy bucket list. :P

  7. Sorry to hear you were sick. I wished I could help Lorraine who was also sick, but she had some wonderful friends who helped out. She also had to get a sub for the special musical number she was accompanying. Life goes like that. Glad to hear you are doing better.

  8. Oh no!! At least Matt was home to help (although sick too). Glad you're feeling better. We're praying to skip that nasty bug this year...had it same time last year. It's a killer!

  10. That is awful! I am so sorry. Glad it was short-lived, though. It must be going around--it went around our house twice in one month last month. Cleaning that up is my least favorite mom job--good thing Dennon is tougher than I am.
