***This post is disjointed and long-winded but I keep trying to edit/trim and I just keep making it longer/worse so here it is- read what you want (or just look at the pictures which is what I suspect most people do anyway!) and ignore the rest. I've been writing it since they were 8 months!
Nothing has changed with the twins the last 3 months; so I haven't updated. Just kidding. They've hit so many milestones it's been too crazy to update! Just when I think I'm getting this twin thing down they hit a new milestone. I think I'm getting the hang of this crawling/standing thing so it's probably about time for them to start walking! I'm not ready for that- or for them to be a year old. Everything has gone by even faster this time around.
Oliver
Weight: 18 lbs (8%) Skinny little boy. He only has a small pooch and one leg roll. He's just too much of a mover- but he eats great!
Height: 28" (25%)
Head: 18" 55%
# of Teeth: 6 (4 top teeth just broke through last week!)
Recent accomplishments: Pushing toys around the room- sometimes one handed, standing up then letting go for a few seconds. Just started saying "Dada dada" for Matt
After 2 months of constant push-ups and downward dog practice he started crawling a few days after he hit the 7 months mark , a few days later pushed it up to super speed I have to hurry to get somewhere ahead of him!
-He entertains himself better than Charlotte. He crawls around the house and plays with toys by himself or follows Charlotte. Every half-hour he comes to me for a hug. When he starts fussing and sucking his thumb he's ready for a nap. He hasn't sucked his thumb nearly as much now that he's crawling. He still sticks it in his mouth between bites when he's eating- it's no wonder he gets so dirty.
-Started cruising along couches, tables, fireplaces, bathtubs, toilets, siblings you name it. Abby doesn't appreciate being used as a pushing off point for him to stand up! I found him pushing up on her chest- it looked like she was receiving CPR. Matt found him pushing her face into the tile, poor kid!
Abigail
Weight: 17lbs 4oz (15%)
I swear there was a month where she weighed more than Olly before she started crawling
Height: 27.5 inches (35%)
Head: 17.5" (55%)
# of Teeth: 2 She got the first tooth before brother but Olly quickly passed her up.
Recent accomplishments: Crawling (right before 9 months), pulling up to standing at the same time
When brother started doing push-ups she decided to would practice rolling. When brother started crawling she got the first tooth and started doing her own push-up. She would grunt with the effort at first. She was a good sitter long before him and started getting into sitting position on her own at 8 months. Just before 9 months she finally got good enough to crawl from room to room.
-She doesn't like to be alone. When brother and sister happen to be asleep she doesn't know what to do without her entertainment/torture committee. She was very mad when brother would crawl away and leave her. Now she follows him around. She has the most broken hearted cry and face when she's upset and huge tears roll down her face.
-She has the perfect little pincher grasp. She quickly and daintily picks up her cheerios at mealtime (she also uses it on the skin on the back of arms really well). Her tray is so much cleaner than his usually! Very content to wait her turn for a bite. Brother yells when he's not being fed fast enough. They will eat almost anything- we've recently started cheese, eggs, yogurt, chicken, and salmon. Yeah for protein!
Poor kid has to play with all the girly toys.
Already crawling across the playground to start rock climbing. He is always content outside- and he's always got a handful of wood chips, sand, grass, etc in his mouth. He makes a break for the door any chance he can. I live in constant fear of Charlotte slamming him in the door.
Abby giggles uncontrollably while taking a bath with Charlotte. I usually do Charlotte and one baby at a time in the tub then hand off for Matt to dress one baby while I bathe the other. I have put all 3 in together a couple of times. Cutest thing ever! They've done well being 3 babies in the tub.
Always moving!
Feeling those 2 bottom teeth. They were both so good for the bottom 2 teeth I hardly knew they were teething until they were in. Getting 4 top teeth at once made him moderately cranky. Olly Jolly really has been a good nickname for him- he's by far my best kid at smiling and being held by strangers. It's so easy to get him to grin and giggle.
Ta dah! She is starting to show off her personality. She's learned to growl like Charlottle and is fascinated with her own voice. When we got back from a trip to Cornville she was so excited to see Matt, "Da da da da da!" She loves her daddy! She says it all the time and smiles so big for him.
Peek-a-boo!
I often have to go find Oliver. He's so fast and quiet. He's usually in the kid's room, the master closet or the pantry. Charlotte goes looking for him, "Olly Jolly where are you? Little brother?"
Double the cuteness more than makes up for double the work!
They really react to seeing each other and Charlotte now. It's fun to watch them stealing toys and food back and forth. Grabbing each other's faces while they nurse or my favorite holding hands. They are always so happy to see each other. They are both eating solids really well. Olly is much messier. Of course my only kid with hair loves to rub food in it! Miracle of miracles they both will take bottles again. Around 8 months Olly started taking 1 4oz bottle of formula before bed, around 9 months Abby started to do it too. It's so nice to have them taking bottles again. I still nurse the other 3 feedings- usually still at the same time unless I'm feeling like I don't want a wrestling match! Diaper changes usually result in them trying to roll over and crawl away while mooning me multiple times before we finish. They had a couple of week's where they each got up once at night but now they're doing well again and napping twice a day. I think they wear themselves out crawling. I really do love having twins!

Awww... twins are cute. But I still am glad I didn't get 2 for 1. Sorry Erin. Heavenly Father must've known you could handle it! I love the stroller picture. : )
ReplyDeleteI'm the opposite of Alyn - reading this post made me want twins desperately! Double the cuteness makes me forget double the work. :) Alas, there haven't been twins in my family for eight generations, so I don't think it's gonna happen. Boo!
ReplyDeleteAdorable! I love your twins. They are growing up so fast and it does go by so fast! Thanks for the photos!
ReplyDeleteI read the whole thing. Love the pictures and the thoughts. Thanks for sharing. Kisses and hugs to ALL. Love Grandma
ReplyDeleteLove reading every word and the pictures.
ReplyDeleteThey are absolutely adorable! This past Sunday, Matt's gpa bore his testimony about how proud he is of his great-grandkids mothers (you!). He said they should get a medal every day for what they do. I agree- you do deserve a medal each day!
ReplyDeleteOh, they are so cute. It is so fun to see how they are alike and different. I'm always comparing my kids (because it's interesting, not to be mean!), so it's fun to really compare these 2 real time!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics - I especially love the one of the two of them in the stroller.
ReplyDeleteThey are sure growing up. It is fun to read about your children and see the pictures.
