July in Cornville

We headed up to Cornville with my parents right after Olly and Abby's party and stayed for a week until Matt came to get us.

There is something about going home that just makes everything feel right with the world.  Something about how quiet it is, hardly any cars, how it's cooler in the evenings and morning, how green it is along the creek and river, how you can see the stars. Even the smell of skunk is nostalgic these days!  Maybe it's because my mom does most of the cooking and I don't feel obligated to do much other than straighten up the toys now and then!  Kori's family was up there for most of the week also and they loved the cousin time 24-7.  My kids were all not feeling well- and between the throw-up, running noses, breathing treatments, etc etc... they did not sleep or act like themselves.  At least the yard was still beautiful.

This boy didn't want to join in the irrigating fun.

The girls loved it- even though it was right before bed- we ran out of pjs a couple of times this trip.  Good thing Grandma has a washer!

Gotta help move big pipes.

Cousin pile- that's poor Spencer on the bottom.

After being home for exactly a week we headed back up to Cornville for another 4 days while Matt took out the great room tile.
Grandad has a special grand kid bow and arrow he had made.  Charlotte loved it but still needed lots of help.  "I like BRAVE!  I get a bear!"  She went to her first movie in a theater with Matt on a daddy daughter date and saw Brave and loved it!  Every time we go drive by the theater she tells me all about it.

One of the many animals to see.  Olly loves Toby.

Not pictured-
-4th of July/Great Grandpa's 82nd birthday BBQ and fireworks at the golf course (Abby and Olly's first time!)
-Catching up with my friends and their kids Dawn and Elysia
-Driving 20 min to "town" to the Cottonwood Home Depot, picking up Panda Express and realizing I've turned into a citiot (pronounced city- idiot but together- a dad phrase) "What do you mean I can't turn left on this street?  Why don't they put in a stop light already? The Home Depot is so small- since when does everyone bring their dogs into the home improvement store?"  The fact that they were both chain stores/restaurants is actually kind of a novelty- Cornville only has one chain store they acquired since I left- family dollar, all the rest are one of a kind places.

  2. city-iot. I like it. Still a little unclear as to how you've become one. How have you been to Maryland but not Virginia? Did you go to WashingtonDC? What airport? Did you viist Arlington or mt. Vernon. (both in VA)

    1. I took the trip to D.C. when I was 13- I can't remember what airport I flew into. I know it felt like we drove through a lot of states from the airport to the hotel but I didn't do a lot outside of the city. No Arlington or Mt. Vernon for sure. I did keep a pretty good journal- I'll have to dig it out and see if I can add Virginia.
