The time we found a guy face down on our sidewalk at midnight-

10/20/12
We were up at midnight painting with my helpful sister Marti when we heard a horrible screeching and crunch noise (the windows were all open-no a/c that weekend remember) - my heart was racing so fast.  We came out to find a guy laying face down on our sidewalk and this-

The guy on the motorcycle had run a red light near us. The cops had been at the light and followed him.  He tried to lose them in our neighborhood and took the curve by our house too fast.  Matt had moved our car on the street from the garage a few hours earlier, since the cabinet guys were coming in the morning.  He sideswiped our car first- scratched the door, knocked off a hub cab- nothing major but the estimate was still over $2,000 to fix it.  He then slammed our full recycling bin scattering it all over 2 yards, then smashed into and finally stopped on my sister's truck and landed face down on the sidewalk.

Luckily, the cops were right behind him so we didn't have to do much.  I was so glad we didn't have to call 911 and check if he was alive. We just had to hang out on the porch for a few hours and give them our information while 20 cops were in our front yard. They had to take pictures of everything before it was moved. We're so grateful he hit our car instead of our kid's bedroom window.  Amazingly, they didn't wake up.  We felt the worst for Marti whose car did need some repairs- what a way to say, "Thanks for helping us paint- get your car slammed in front of our house!"

The ambulance came, the guy was snoring, totally drunk.  When he woke up he was trying to move, they cut off some of his clothes, his leg looked broken and his helmet had cracked. He had a backpack full of beer. The registration on the motorcycle was expired and his licence was suspended.  His court date was last week, we sent in our estimate for repairs, but he didn't show up for court. Big surprise.  It was not our typical Friday night!
