August 10th First Day of School!
Charlotte- first day of 2nd grade
No friends in her class again this year but she was less nervous. She's still had a tired meltdown or two after school from holding it all in during the day but she seems to love the challenge of 2nd grade. I'm hoping someone can finally challenge her at reading. She has a nice small class. She likes to buy lunch often.
Oliver 1st grade- he was a little weepy the night before and cried a little during afternoon recess as well when he got worried after his teacher left. Abby took him over to my friend Cassie who is a playground aide and she explained that teachers need to eat lunch too and she would be back.
Abby 1st grade also, seemed the most excited about school. All the twins' friends from church are in their class this year which is fun! Both twins have liked eating lunch. Olly hasn't tried buying lunch yet. Both have had a few issues with using the bathroom at school now that they are there all day. I'm impressed how organized their teacher is, which is good because they have a big class this year.
Miles changed his clothes 3 times wanting to be just perfect for school too. He had to have his backpack, water bottle, and lunch packed too. He still wants to walk the kids to the bus almost every day and the first few days he asked, "Can I get on the bus too?" He's good at playing alone but he does talk me into a few too many shows or computer games on the days we stay home. I have set up a Joy School swap Wednesdays and Fridays and a play swap with some younger kids on Thursdays. Tuesdays we often do park day so we have a schedule. My house is so much cleaner. I"m getting more dinners planned and de-cluttering/organizing a lot. Hopefully blogging more as well! Summer pictures are uploaded!
I can never get them all looking with their eyes open!
The bus stop crew. We have to walk half-way down our street to the bus but we have nice kids at our stop this year. I like how Abby is holding on to Olly. Their friend McKinley's mom told me that Abby and Olly actually like each other and get along. I was glad to hear that since that is often not the case at home.
They wanted me to follow them to school again this year. I loved all the hand holding. Charlotte's good friend Aspen.
Twins all ready to go into class.
Here's hoping 1st and 2nd grade is a great year!
Nothing like the first day of school excitement. Thanks for sharing.
