Monday morning of Spring Break the kids and I drove up to Cornville! It felt like forever since we'd spent a few days up there with my parents being gone for half the year the last two years and my brother's family being there. Jesse's family was so nice to move into the guest house so we were able to take over the bedrooms in my parents house for a few days!
My dad is loving his new tool to engrave walking sticks & rocks etc. Olly helped him figure out how to do new designs most of the time we were there. On Tuesday we did a desert picnic to find more rocks to engrave.
On the drive home we stopped and walked around the Page Springs Fish Hatchery where I grew up all 18 years of my childhood.
I used to save up two quarters and run down to the hatchery to buy a soda from this machine all the time. It's 3 quarters now- Miles put in the money and the soda jammed but I knew just where to hit the front to get it to come out. We used to put our skinny arms up inside to get them out!
I hadn't seen these cut out before they were fun! I loved showing the kids the path up by the spring above the parking lot and all my favorite biking and roller blading spots.
One my my favorite things to do is hang out on the porch hammock and read or nap- it was still a little chilly but pretty nice for early March.
We drove home on Wednesday. The rest of the week we went shopping at Tempe Marketplace and got some new running shoes & clothes for the girls and some socks, church pants and other things for the boys. They are growing so fast it's hard to keep up with their clothes & shoes.
On Thursday evening, March 13th we went to do baptisms with Marti and Spencer
We did a Pi day party several years ago at our house and I've wanted to do another one since. We finally made a neighborhood pi party happen but due to cold/rainy weather we moved it to 3-15 so we were off by a day. A bunch of neighbors and church friends brought pies to the retention basin. It was yummy and fun to see the kids running around and playing! I brought a Costco chicken pot pie for the savory/dinner pie table, I made an apple pie and bought a chocolate cream pie. No surprise the chocolate was the first gone, then the apple.
Charlotte was embarrassed we made her sit in the back to keep an eye on the pies! Ha!
It's been so fun to have more neighborhood events! Our sweet neighbor Judy Sharp was kind enough to offer some lemons to us so we went & picked 12 bags of lemons and there were still so many left.
We squeezed lemons a ton of Saturday and Sunday. The three younger kids did a bunch while I was napping. Miles especially loves to do work the juicer! We had finally run out of frozen juice after using a bunch for Marti's wedding last year so now we're all stocked up again!
The lemon juice makes our copper sink shiny like a new penny for a couple of days!
It was a nice pretty relaxing spring break. It was nice to see my parents and get out of town for a couple of days!
