My mom loves babies. I mean really LOVES babies. You don't have 6 kids and not love babies. She kept quite a few of us in her room for long time when we were the baby just so the other kids could have more space. This meant we continued to wake her up at night for a long, long time. And yet she still loves babies. When I told her we were having twins she said she couldn't sleep. The night each grandchild was born she also couldn't sleep. She says getting a new baby is better than Christmas.

Remember when you were a kid and you would try SO hard to stay up to hear Santa come? You were so so very excited for Christmas morning after all the anticipation. I have to say today feels a little like Christmas Eve to me. I am SOOOO excited for my ultrasound tomorrow! I really think I'll be surprised no matter what genders. I was excited about my ultrasound with Charlotte but I was so sure I was having a girl. It's like peeking or picking out your Christmas presents yourself. You're still excited to get them but the surprise factor is gone.
Mom meeting Charlotte for the first time.
I'll definitely post what we're having on here tomorrow, but I want to make sure we call family members first. So if it takes awhile... sorry. Just remember that I've known I was pregnant for 16 weeks, and I've known it was twins for 11, so I've had to be very patient for this ultrasound. I am in awe of people who voluntarily wait until they are born- I just couldn't make myself tell the tech tomorrow that I don't want to know. There are going to be enough surprises about when and how these babies come- I'm glad I get to find out gender sooner.

I told my mom we were keeping the genders a secret. She didn't think that was funny and threatened to call the ultrasound office! My mom's been telling me for weeks she just can't wait for Feb. 24th, it's so far away. I teased her about who was actually having the twins. I've been instructed to call her at work and tell the secretary it's okay to interrupt her... I asked if I should just have them announce it on the intercom so her whole school could hear! Do you think since I'm having twins that counts as a Christmas present for mom for the next 2 years?
Now let's just hope the babies both cooperate. I know I'll have lots of other ultrasounds but I want to open my "Christmas presents" tomorrow, I'm tired of waiting! So do you think my mom is also too excited to sleep tonight? I love you mom- I just have to tease you a little bit! Until tomorrow... (eeeek!!! That's my excited squeal!)
I'm so excited for you! And, for Aunt Jere- I feel the same way about babies as she does- I just love them!
ReplyDeleteI love babies when I'm not sleep deprived. That's a real problem.
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting for my phone call. What time is the appointment? Should I carry my tracphone?
Oh, and Happy Birthday Dad, by the way. : )
P.S. Mom you'd better get your baby holding out of your system, because when Marti & I arrive, we've got dibs on all 3 of the babies. Charlie's obsessed with holding babies as well.
ReplyDeleteLiving far away from family, I don't have very many babies I can hold. Some people stay home with the baby for 2 months.
You crack me up Erin! It's fun to see mom be a Grandma. I think she like it better than being a mom even. I'm waiting for the phone call too.
ReplyDeleteBabies are wonderful and I totally understand the excitement you are feeling! I can't wait for you either! It is so exciting to find out one gender let alone two! Can't wait to hear!
ReplyDeletehahaha, that's so cute. Gotta love the grandmothers. They are just so Grand!
ReplyDeleteI admit, I was hoping this was the post! I am so excited for you. I think it's doubly exciting, too, because there are TWO babies. Oh man, I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteMy only baby that didn't cooperate (no matter how he tried the ultrasonographer couldn't figure out the gender) was Enoch. Which was fine by me because we didn't want to know the gender and weren't looking while the ultrasnonographer was searching. I'm crossing my fingers both babies cooperate!
Thank you Erin, you are very complimentary. Yes, ALL of my Grandchildren can be considered Christmas presents. I don't need anything else. You are all too generous anyway. Madi,Lia,Cai,Spencer, Maya,Charlie,Charlotte,Eliza,Tanner, 10,11,12, etc. their parents,Grand-dad, and extended family, I'm very blessed. As a grandson says, "You make me HAPPY." Yes, I will share those 3 new babies with Alyn and Marti too. I guess everyone else might deserve a turn. Love Grandma
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine being able to wait. Maybe if I had a lot more babies. Can't wait to hear the news. I guessed two boys!
