Here it is finally!!! I feel like I've been on the phone all day- then my internet went down so it took awhile!
First they did a quick look at both babies heart beats- I’ve been a little worried about “Baby B” the last couple of days because “Baby A” has been moving like crazy but “Baby B” hasn’t moved hardly at all (see the comparisons are already starting). It’s always a relief to see both of those little heart beats. They did all the measurements on “Baby A” I mean ALL of the measurements. Baby A was moving around the whole time. It took almost 4 tries to get an accurate heart beat because of all the movement. Everything looked really good… then she finally did the between the legs shot. She asked, “What do you see mom and dad?” It was really easy to tell...
My first reaction was- oh man I’m going to have to figure out this boy thing. My second reaction was- he’s an active little boy- which makes me laugh since I don’t like generalizations- but it’s true. I’ve totally noticed a TON more movement from him than “Baby B” but Charlotte was always a mover too…
Then she moved on to “Baby B” I have to admit I was hoping she wouldn’t make me wait for all the measurements and she didn’t. This time she did the between the legs shot and said what do you see?
I couldn’t really tell at first- and I didn’t want to guess wrong. Then I said I don’t see the same thing- that looks like a girl! Then she showed us the three lines and confirmed that it was
I am so excited!! I have to admit that even though I was guessing boys I never felt like they were both boys, and if I had to pick I would have picked one of each. Of course that’s easy to say now that we know that’s what we’re having! So I think I swayed the vote with my “2 boys” premonition after Charlotte. Just so you know I didn’t have any premonitions this time for any future children!
Baby Girl B's little feet
Everything else looked really good. And they are definitely fraternal!
Baby Boy A- Head Down facing inward, 8 oz measuring 18 weeks 6 days (there is some room for error on the measurements), He is still the “presenting” twin meaning he’s lower so he’ll probably come out first- thus how he got the “A” label. He’s been moving almost constantly the last couple of days.
Baby Girl B- Head Up (Breech), 7 oz measuring 18 weeks 2 days- this is good that they are so close in size. The further along I get the more this can vary especially with the different genders. She was all snuggled up in there- being pretty chill most of the time. She did get a little wiggly at the end. I’ve been feeling some soft jabs on my left side, almost on my back from her. I don’t know if means she’s not as much of a mover or if the placenta is just right in front of her or something. It’s weird to have a baby that’s not as crazy so far!
They still have plenty of room to move around in there so the head down or up isn’t that important at this point but it will be very important at the end!
I guessed right!!! I don't have any names at the moment, but I will start thinking hard. That is so fun Erin!!!! I'm so excited for you and Matt!!! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!
ReplyDeleteI was hoping that they'd be a boy and a girl! I am so excited for you, Erin. Yay!!!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting to get one of each. We're excited for you.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on one of each! Now you can keep your girl stuff out too! We have a terrible time picking names, so I am afraid I will be no help!
ReplyDeleteyay! That is the best combo! Boys are not as hard as you think! I am so excited for you guys!
ReplyDeleteYAY!!! I'm so massively excited for you! I have a feeling that you will be given a TON of boy stuff, if you need it, from all your mom's group pals! So nice too that this will make easy as pie to tell them apart!
ReplyDeleteSo Exciting! I picked right this time. I think I was right with Charlotte too though :) I'll start throwing names out your way. Congrats again!
ReplyDeleteInteresting that they are 4 days apart in age, but I guess that happens when there are two eggs and they implant at different times. I have a ton of cute boys clothes for little baby A.
ReplyDeleteKori- when I list their "age" that doesn't mean they necessarily implanted at those times. That is just their estimated gestational age based on their measurements. So Charlotte's age gap kept getting bigger the further along I got- it doesn't mean my due date was changing- just that she was growing more slowly than the "average" baby at that age. That small of a gap is actually really good- it just means that the girl is smaller than the boy by a little but it can be off up to 10 days at this age. If they start to vary more their gestational ages will be more different- but their due date- and probably when they implanted are the same.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Erin! Sounds like you're getting exactly what you wished for. Of course, the most important thing is that they are both healthy and growing well.
ReplyDeleteThat is SO Exciting! I can't wait to see them. I'm glad they're healthy and growing well. How fun to get to have both--the best of both worlds. And Charlotte gets to have both a brother and a sister. I was wrong--I said 2 boys because of your premonition. But you were still pretty close!

ReplyDeleteHow exciting! Thats the way to have twins (speaking from experience). Hannah was always smaller than Ethan (which is one of the many reason they induced me). But speaking about ultrasounds, Lucas measured 2 weeks ahead of what he really was at my last ultrasound before he was born- he could've been 10 pounds if i went to term!
ReplyDeleteThat is a GREAT combo- seriously! If I could have twins- I would want boy girl. SO happy for you. I'm sure you'll pick great names-happy baby growing!
ReplyDeleteI think I guessed two boys, although quite frankly I swayed so much that I don't really remember. YAY!!!!! I always thought I'd want one of each if I ever had twins (which I won't, just because I've wanted it). I'm so, so, so excited for you! I can't wait to see what you decide to name them!
ReplyDeleteCongrats Erin and Matt! That is so exciting to have one of each! I always thought of different ways to tell twins apart when they are so young but now you won't have to worry about that!
ReplyDeleteCongrats!!! I'm so excited for you guys! Erin, you are going to love having your lil boy! They're just so irrestitable! Matt, of course will just be anxious until he can really start playing! :-) Many blessings to you guys. Maybe we can get together soon!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's awesome. Then you will get to have both genders. Haha, I know that's obvious, but it's cool to think. I'm glad at least one of them is fairly calm. I can't imagine having two crazy moving things inside. I'm so happy that you are doing well.
