Baby Baby!

I've been remiss in introducing our other newest family member. She joined us Christmas day and so far her name is "baby, baby"- said with much emotion mind you. I really wanted to get Charlotte a cute soft doll for Christmas. Charlotte would have loved any old ugly one just as well but I wanted a cute one. It's harder than you think. There are a lot of ugly dolls out there.

I began to worry I should have gotten the tricycle instead.... Then as soon as she saw the doll through the rip in the wrapping paper she started to squeak in excitement and make this face-

In case you can't tell that's open mouthed excitement. She had NEVER seen a baby doll before. How did she know to be that excited? It was so sweet how much she loved this doll from the start.

Our daughter LOVES baby dolls. It's her first attachment object. It must be in the crib for nap time and bedtime and she must get it out of the crib with her (along with all her books). If you forget to grab the baby she will yell "baby, baby!!" until you grab her. She has been seen to try to feed her baby doll, share her sippy, change her diaper, read to the baby, and she brings you her own dresses to put on the doll. She also tries to bring her in the bath with her and she wants her tucked in at night as well.

She collects all the baby dolls at nursery and other people's houses and walks around trying to hold them all.

She loves baby pictures of herself and other babies.

She will kiss my stomach unprompted and say "baby, baby". Not so cute when she tries to show off my growing abdomen in public!

It's a good thing she's such a little mama- but I'm a bit worried the twins are going to get a little too much lovin' from big sister.

Now I'm wondering if I should get her a boy doll so she can have "twins" too or if that's just going to be one more object I have to find before bedtime!

  1. I am glad she loves her doll. Since Bradford was born, the girls have rediscovered their baby dolls (they each have one.) The other day I went into their room and they were nursing their baby's. They have now taken the lid off of the doll bottles and use them as a pacifier - they now know that there is a different way that babies eat!

  2. Yeah, I can pretty much guarantee that the twins will get too much love. But it'll make them strong. :)

  3. Twin dolls are so cute and fun! Hannah got a set for her 2nd birthday- we named them Emmy and Eli cuz she could say those names. Then we got Sam and Sophie a little while later. Oh and then I actually got twin dolls from Nate's aunt when i was pregnant, so Hannah inherited those too. We have way too many dolls around here!

  4. She really does like that baby doll. I'm amazed you've been able to keep her out of the bathtub since Charlotte also loves baths so much. I loved the pictures. What a fun little girl, and what a character. XXXOOO Grandma
