Top 10 Things to Do in Cornville when you're 1.5

Fort Wayne, Indiana- the exciting town where Matt had to spend 2 weeks of his life for work. TWO WHOLE WEEKS. We've never been apart that long since we were engaged, and he very rarely travels for work. Two weeks is a long time, especially for a little kid (I have a new respect for you Brooke). The first week we stayed home and ate a lot of mac and cheese, worked on crafts and cleaning- then we were getting pretty lonely. So we took a little jaunt up to Cornville to stay with my parents for Easter weekend and most of the next week.

Here's the top 10 list of things to do in Cornville according to Charlotte...

1. Go see the neighbor's horses (sheep, peacocks, cows, chickens) as many times as you can drag an adult by their finger to take you. She actually wasn't too scared of the horses and her animal sounds have drastically improved.

2. Play with the dogs, dogs, dogs!!! Man does Charlotte love dogs. First thing in the morning, all day long, and last thing at night she would ask about the dogs. She might have kissed them a little more than I would have liked and she snuck a few pieces of dog food into her mouth as well.

3. Throw rocks in the Oak Creek, make sure you get good and dirty every day.

4. Kiss some cousins (and play and yell...)

5. Participate in the 2nd Annual Diehl Cousin Easter Egg Hunt with help from Grandad.

Maya- the Easter Bunny with Attitude

6. Learn to say the word "candy"- obviously

7. Practice banging on pianos

8. Follow Grandma around like a shadow- I don't think she minded.

9. Debut a new Easter dress and break out last year's bunny ears.
10. Not pictured- swinging on big kid swings and the hammock, mom actually getting to watch General Conference thanks to Grandma and Grandad, shopping in Cottonwood and Sedona, eating gelato ice cream, relaxing.
It was lovely weather and lovely company. Too bad Matt had to miss it. Thanks again mom and dad!

  1. 2 weeks IS a long time for a little kid- and I don't think single parenthood is EVER easy. Looks like tons of fun. The kids and I are coming to AZ in May through the middle of June (just shy of 4 weeks) so we'd love to have a cousin party!

  2. Yay! What fun for her and you to visit for a week. I love going to grandparents house, I get a little break, and the kid LOVES it! I love her Easter dress too!

  3. I'm glad you could visit your family while Matt was gone. I love it when Lorraine visits when Seth is gone. Unfortunately now that Camille is in school it prevents some of that. We are just too far away. It looks like Charlette had a great time.

  6. i have to say- we went to Fort Wayne 2 summers ago! We went to the Firefighter museum (had lunch there), and then went to the fire station so the kids could sit on a fire truck. Yep, been to Fort Wayne.
