7 years- Mexican Food, Paddle Boats, and Grown-up Dress-Ups

7 years since we got married!
Our anniversary fell on Sunday and Mother's Day this year. A double whammy.  Saturday night our kids stayed home with grandma and grandpa and we tried out Tia Rosa's (good but we couldn't figure out why it was so packed).  It was prom so we saw lots of high school kids at dinner and later at the Beach Park.  It made us glad to not be in high school any more- oh the acne, awkward dates, insecurities.

Matt had the great idea to do the 2 person paddle boats on Tempe Town Lake. I highly recommend it!  It was only $15 for an hour and it was much cooler on the water.   It was sunset and we loved paddling around and going under the bridges and looking at the mud nests.  I could barely move the boat when Matt stopped paddling, but he didn't notice a difference when I stopped.  Should I read some sort of metaphor about our marriage into that?  Riding  a paddle boat is a lot like sleeping on an air mattress- it's  a little lopsided with our size difference- we kept laughing about it.
Matt thought my sign was a little lame but he was a good sport and let me do it anyway!
The next day on our anniversary I tried on my dress again.  The girls- Charlotte especially- were so excited.  I think she thought we were getting married again. Luckily it fit- zipped up and everything!  Having my sister here and my new camera meant it turned into an impromptu photo shoot instead of the usual token snapshot.
I totally didn't plan this but yellow and blue were our wedding colors.

I love the small faux-buttons all the way down the back and train- it's really a zipper thank heavens.

Matt was sweet and even tried on his suit from our wedding, Thanks to a ton of hard work on his part it fits again!  I'm so proud of him!  I'm married to one handsome guy.

These ones with all the kids are a little disturbing.  We wanted to show how much has changed, but it just looks a little odd to have us in our wedding clothes with all the kids in the shot.  Oh well. It was fun.

Totally staged.

It was a great Mother's Day and Anniversary! It was a good day to remember how much we've been blessed with these last 7 years.  I'm lucky to have such a hard-working and loving husband and to be the mom of 3 great kids!

  6. My grandparents used to take pictures of them in their wedding attire every year, and added the kids in it as well. So yes there is a picture of him in his army uniform, her white dress and 4 kids (I think they stopped the tradition before the last 2 kids came along).
