Elphaba: Oh, for Oz's sake, stop crying!!! I can't listen to it anymore! Oh, you want to see your Aunt Em and your Uncle What's-his-name again?! Then get those shoes off your feet!!! Little brat... takes a dead woman's shoes; must have been raised in a barn!
I've never really gotten the whole obsessed with shoes thing.Glinda: I know you don't want to hear this but someone has to say it! You are out of control! I mean they're just shoes...let it go!
I was chatting with a wedding photographer recently and she told me her husband never understands why she photographs the bride's shoes. Some of these shoes are a work of art. I think I'm starting to catch the shoe bug. After owning the same 3 pairs of high heels- 1 white, the same pair in black, and 1 brown that I've had since 6th grade- I've purchased two new pairs of high heels this year. They were from Ross- so don't think I really fell off the shoe-buying wagon, but still it's a big step for me. I'm so practical- if they still fit and they're not worn out why buy new shoes that I only wear on Sundays?
My original clunky shoes that I didn't really like for my actual wedding. I would have loved ballet flats. I felt like I should wear some heel to help with the height difference, but I did not want to wear high heels all day. The only thing I could find for my absurdly small feet were these strappy platform shoes in the little girl's section. My mom took the butterfly off (seriously they were that bad). They were not my dream shoes. Do you ever wish you could plan your wedding over and over? There are so many new ideas all the time. I love the fun bright colored shoes everyone is wearing. When I had my wedding dress on for our anniversary I put on my new red 27th birthday shoes. Because every 27 year old needs a pair of fun red high heels right? It seemed like the perfect birthday gift to myself. I don't know if I would honestly have worn them for our wedding- and red was not my wedding color but it was fun all the same.
They go with so many more outfits than I thought they would, and they were the perfect shoes to wear to the play Wicked (awesome!), our fun date for March. I even had a complete stranger complement me on my shoes! I think I'm finally getting why some women get so into shoes.
Cinderella- "Proof that a new pair of shoes can change your life!"
Where do you fall on the shoe perspective? I made a poll on the side for fun so go count your shoes!>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I have 14 pairs by the way- slippers, flip-flops (remember when they were called thongs- cringe), and boots count- I even counted my snow boots from my Flagstaff years.

I would like some pretty shoes, if they were comfortable. No way will I torture myself. So, how long can you wear the red shoes?
ReplyDeleteAlyn- ha ha! That's the downside to fashion anything cute is almost always more time (like doing my hair), work, money or pain. I can wear these red shoes to all 3 busy hours at church (I don't sit much since I'm in primary) and it's not too bad. I would NOT have worn them all day teaching or anywhere with lots of walking. It helps that they're open toe and the heel isn't insanely high. I am big on the comfort factor as well but for Sundays I make more of an exception because it's nice to look more put together once a week!
DeleteI've gotten rid of several pairs lately and I didn't actually count them...so about 20 is my guess.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute shoes! I am so happy you are on the shoe wagon! it is so much fun! Shoes are such a great accessory and confidence booster!
ReplyDeleteFor the record, I wore ballet flats on my wedding day. :) I was really into shoes during high school, but after my mission I refuse to buy anything that I wouldn't walk around all day at Disneyland in. Plus, Sam is only two inches taller than I am, so I don't do heels. My sister took up my shoe love where I left off and thanks to a practical husband, I think she may currently be under 100 pairs. No joke. :)
ReplyDeleteI think I need a pair of red shoes. I've always loved red shoes, but I haven't had any for way too long. I'm sure I can find a comfortable pair. Fun post. How did you find the quotes from "Wicked". Great Play. Thank you, my children, I loved it!!! MOM
ReplyDeletethe more expensive the shoe, the more comfortable they will be. :)
ReplyDeleteCarefull getting obessed with shoes - its an expensive hobby. I LOVE Dillards shoes and Amazon books. And, yes, red does match almost everything. I've recently decided that my turquoise shoes match everything too!
ReplyDeleteErin, I just went and counted my shoes for your poll. I could not believe I rang up at 29! Yikes! Time to clean out the shoe closet!
ReplyDeleteI love wearing a cute pair of shoes. Definitely makes the outfit, but very bad for closet space.
