Big 2 Year Old

I wrote this post 2 months ago so I guess I should finally post it! Here are some highlights from Charlotte's 2nd birthday and day-to-day happenings.
Still has never had a haircut!
Someone called her a boy today after she took out her pigtails!

2 year old stats
Height: 34.75 (75%)
Weight: 26lbs 2oz (40%)
Head:18.75(55%)

We are very curious to see how tall our kids are with a 17" difference between Matt and I. I've read about two different ways to estimate your child's height as an adult.
1. Double their height when they turn two- that would put Charlotte around 5'8"-5'10"
2. Or more accurately follow this formula: Add your height and your spouses height together. Then if you're estimating for a girl subtract 3, if you're estimating for a boy add 3. Then divide by two. This should be your child's height with a range of 5 inches either way. I did it for both of our families and I'm pretty sure all our siblings fell in the ranges. Here's a link that does it for you http://www.kidsgrowth.com/hc/height.cfm

She loves to help me with everything! Dishes, bathing the babies, laundry, dusting- she still follows me like a shadow all day. We've had a few cases of her finally playing by herself for a little while so there is hope in sight. Mom is just more fun I guess.
I threw this cake together at the last minute- not my best effort. We ate this with our families after the twins' blessing. Hardly anyone actually eats the birthday cake so why do we make them? I ignored a few cake making rules so I was terrified we would come home to find this thing had slipped on the floor!
She loved blowing out the candles. On her actual birthday we had to turn out the lights and sing happy birthday 3 times so she could blow out the candles again and again!
She's developing a sense of humor- so cute!
She also likes to pretend to be me, Matt, a bear (roar!) and to pretend "read" to herself. She was pretending her blanket was a "nice kitty" and a "cute dog" and petting it!
In true 2-year-old fashion she is getting more independent. Here she is eating ice cream. Nice.

Favorite foods: noodles, anything with sugar, bread, meat, cereal, eggs, yogurt

Here she is after putting on her p.j.'s all by herself. Notice both legs in the same side of the shorts and the arm through the neck hole. "Yeah I did it!" is one of her longest sentences we hear these days usually with clapping. She's been adding "mommy" or "daddy" to the end of her sentences- it melts my heart every time, "Thank you mommy!", "Miss you daddy." It took a long time to get her to say thank you but now she says it spontaneously all the time.
She's keeps asking to use the potty- especially when we're in public. I'm sure I've made quite a few people nervous when I don't take her! She actually goes about once a day. I think she just likes the novelty of it. I don't think either one of us are quite ready for that step but hopefully soon we'll figure out a way to take a toddler to the bathroom all day and take care of twin babies.
"How many birthday presents can I be touching at one time?" She loves her backpack. I love that I don't have to haul her stuff to church!

She is talking non-stop now. She loves to talk on the phone with relatives and finally moved from calling things "Charlotte's" to "mines." Oh yes, we are definitely in that 2 year old stage- so sweet and funny, learning things a mile a minute; then very opinionated, and independent and throwing a tantrum the next minute. She is a very funny kid. She still doesn't open up very quickly to people but she's very sweet once she warms up to them. I am constantly amazed at the little person she has become.

  3. It's fun to read and learn more about her. She is so cute and funny (since I spend most of my church time in the nursery, I see her).
I love it when they say Mommy and actually use it correctly. Porter pretty much skipped that and calls me "Emily". Still cute, but inappropriate for a 1 1/2 year old.

  4. So, you're telling me you found and used a formula that predicts height within 10" based on parental height and gender? 10 inches? I can do that without a formula! : )

  7. Don't let anyone tell you that 2 is terrible. I love the 2's. They start to speak, do things independently, remember things they learn... it is so fun.
