Christmas 2010

Annual Christmas Eve with the Fife's (Matt's mom's side of the family). Caroling is my favorite part so I was really glad it was re-instituted this year. Charlotte and the twins decided it was past their bedtime and they were going to act like it during the last part of the program. I felt bad we had to leave and miss his grandparents telling stories about when they were younger. They were married on Christmas Eve so they have a party every year. They are so cute and great!

Crazy person that I am, I actually made Charlotte's jammies. Because- you guessed it- my good friend Crockery Shed was charging $40 for the same thing. After making them I think they might have been undercharging. No it really wasn't too hard- just time consuming. This was my first time making a whole outfit with a pattern without my mom there to fix it if I messed up. I stayed up til' 1am two nights in a row to have them ready for the mom's group Polar Express PJ party. And to top it all off Charlotte doesn't seem to like them! But I do! Maybe if I made a matching pair for her doll she'd like them more? I think it bothers her to have the top with a collar and buttons. I love the fabric and I'm glad I was brave enough to add the contrasting white piping.
Christmas morning joy! "BIG present!!" Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head. They are a big hit. She loves all the Toy Story movies.
Opening presents. I let Abby sleep through it. She got to open her presents when she woke up. Matt got Charlotte the Lucky Charms. She loves them but we don't normally let her have them! I thought it was sweet that he wanted to pick something out himself- and funny that he chose cereal!
All the loot and their new stockings. Lots of movies and books and pretend play and puzzles for Charlotte this year.
This is why we let Abby get her beauty sleep. She is so mellow and sweet. She just hung out while I finished getting everything ready to go.
We stopped at Matt's parents to open presents then headed up to my parents for a couple of days. It was so nice to have so many people to help feed and hold babies. Charlotte thought she died and went to heaven with all the animals and swings. She was constantly begging people to take her outside. The first night the babies did pretty well. The second night Abby was so loud and terrible most of the night. We were going to drop her off at the orphanage on the way out of town-but then we remembered Cornville doesn't have an orphanage. Probably a good thing or I would have been dropped off as a kid. My mom says I was always a terrible sleeper at other places too.
I guess we will keep her. It doesn't get any cuter than this. Thanks to cousin Trac for loaning us the Santa suit right off his back no less!

  2. Oh, mercy, they are so dang cute in the Santa outfits!

I am so impressed with the jammies. You are amazing. We decided to make all our presents to each other this year, so I've just started making 4 pairs of pj pants for the boys and a nightshirt for Brielle. They are the most pathetically easy and simple patterns, and I still think I might be in way over my head! Definitely no piping or buttons--velcro. :)
