9 Milestones of 9 Months

Charlotte was born when I was 38 weeks 3 days pregnant.

During that time she grew...
5 lbs 5 oz
19.5 inches long
Oh, and all those organs and things

Charlotte has now been alive for over 38 weeks 3 days.
She's now
18 lbs (35%)all that time jumping is slimming her down
28 in (70%) She's grown almost 9 inches in 9 months!
17.5 in head circumference (65%)
and she's starting to look like a little person.
She's officially been on the outside longer than she was on the inside (that makes it sound like she broke out of prison!). It's hard to believe.

Charlotte has really taken off in the last week. Here are 9 recent accomplishments from her first 9 months.
1. Finally got her first tooth, on the bottom right, after 4 months of "teething". The doctor tells me there are 3 more ALMOST ready to break through. While I am using this as an excuse for why she has been so clingy the last week, I'll believe it when I see them!
2. Rolling from place to place like a steamroller
3. Pulling up on objects to knees and feet. This scares me to death because she has no fear. She pulls up then lets go. She's had a lot more falls the last few weeks and I'm sure it's just going to get worse.

4. Feeding herself finger foods like a pro. She tries to stuff whole handfuls of Cheerios in her mouth at once. Drinking out of her sippy cup by herself.

Things are a lot messier when she "helps" to feed herself.

5. Turning into curious Charlotte. She's learned how to open drawers and take out what's inside, turn on the water at the bathroom sink, and push on doors. She grabs anything within reach.

Girls are made of sugar...

and syrup! Check out those monkey toes!

6. Babbling a ton. Her favorite is "A ba ba ba." She especially loves sitting in bed and babbling to mom and dad while we're still half asleep.
7. We've hit the separation anxiety stage with a vengeance. I leave the room she cries and tries to crawl after me. Sometimes I just turn away from her and she bursts into tears. When she sees me she cries even harder to get my attention until I pick her up. I really hope that this stage will pass quickly. Any tips?

We see a lot of this face lately. Here's Charlotte with my friend Annie's sweet baby Gracie! Gracie, "What is her problem?"

8. Finally starting to interact. I cough, she coughs back. I stick out my tongue then she'll do it. She especially loves blowing raspberries at each other. This is so fun!

Our own baby Shamu. She has a big splash zone. I'm always soaked after her baths. She's graduated to the big tub.
9. Starting to crawl. She only does it for a few feet then gives up and rolls instead but she's getting there. She can roll from her back to her tummy, then get into crawling position, then sit herself up.

Peek-a-boo!

This has definitely been the most eventful month as far as milestones go. She seems so much older now. I'm excited (nervous) to see what the next few months bring. She's growing up too fast!

  1. Getting more mobile helps with the separation thing because she can follow you around. She is growing into a beautiful little thing! Camille wasn't even 18 pounds at a year and she started out over 9 pounds. Sounds like she is growing well.

  3. Gosh how she has grown. She doesn't even look like when she was a newborn! Charlotte has quite the little personality! Happy 9 month Birthday! I won't mention what it will be in three more months :(

  8. I can't get over how absolutely darling she is. What a beautiful little girl! No advice on the separation anxiety thing. All kids go through it, some for longer, some for shorter. We tried to get babysitters (free ones :) once a week with Seara so she wouldn't do it, but when it came and we kept up the babysitters, I swear our leaving only made it worse. Hers lasted more than a year longer than Elijah's. With him we only ever went out once he was fast asleep, so he never felt torn from us. And he got over it much, much sooner. But that probably had a lot to do with their personalities as well. Whatever you do, good luck!

  9. I didn't know that blogs celebrated their birthdays. I missed that boat. Interesting stats. I'd like my participant ribbon the next time I come visiting teaching, please.
