Happy Belated Birthday Whitmer Matters!
You're 1!
What a bad blogger I am. I missed my blog launch birthday. It was May 31st. Better late than never. I remember waiting to start my blog until I finished teaching last year. I was starting to be big and pregnant, going to water aerobics, and super cleaning my house.1 year ago
Thank you to everyone who visits "Whitmer Matters" especially those who visit and comment. You really have enriched my life this last year. I've loved getting to stretch my writing muscles again and being able to stay in touch with family and friends more easily.
Tips on How to Not Spend Forever Blogging...
I got most of these stats from Google Analytics . I didn't subscribe until August so they are off by a few months, but not by much. If you haven't used Google Analytics you should try it. It's amazing what you can find out about who's visiting your blog, even the ones that never comment **hint hint It's kind of like blog stalking someone back but without nearly as many details. I also recommend using Google Reader to keep track of which blogs update. This save me TONS of time checking each blog. I also have the comments e-mailed to me now to save time checking every 2 minutes!
*** Warning! I love statistics so this might be a number overload for most of you. Just read what you want. I understand this is not the most exciting post.
Here are a few stats from my first year of blogging...
Visits: 5,653
Average Time Spent on Site: 2:57
# of Countries Visited:9
United States (5,625visits)
United Kingdom (8 visits Gloucester area, 1 comment),
I'd like comments from the rest of these countries please!
Canada (3), Spain (1), Greece(1), Taiwan (1), Israel (1),Turkey (1), Russia (1)
# of States Visited: 34
I tried to guess who's coming from which state but I'm not sure... I'd love it if you let me know in the comments which state you've been coming from!

MY FAVORITE CATEGORY
Comments are the reason I blog. They honestly are. I love sharing pictures and stories and hearing what my friends and family think about them. Without the comments it's just a journal for myself, and I already have one of those. So if you're not on this list leave me a comment sometime so I know you're reading the blog. Even if we've never met. I love making new blog friends!

Thanks a ton, you make me feel like you really care what's going on in our lives! Keep the comments comin'! Now on to a 2nd year of blogging!
If you'd like to tell me what state or city you come from that would be great! What was your favorite post last year? First time comments are especially welcome!
Well let me be the first to comment on your comments post! Congratulations on your Blogiversary. I too adore Google Reader, but haven't tried Google Analytics. I'm going to have to start using it now though. I also love comments on my blog, so be sure to leave some love for me too!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday blog, you've been great!
ReplyDeleteOkay, what a fun idea! I love that you have all the details on comments and popular posts. I have used Site Meter for the last 18 months or so, and they don't give you details like that. Sad! (Or maybe they do, and I'm just not very fluent with how it works. That's definitely a possibility!) Well, I'm glad we've become blog friends. You've help rid me of my bitterness against short girls who marry tall boys, leaving short boys for us tall girls. ;) [<- that's a wink]
ReplyDeleteI want to be a gold one!!!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute post Erin, Happy Birthday Whitmer Matters!!!
I think I found out about your blog when we lived in Ohio, but now, our comments are comming from Peyton, Colorado.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun lot of statistics! Happy Birthday to your blog!
Congrats!!!
ReplyDeleteThat was fun!!! Thanks for sharing all the stats. I may be slow, but I'm persistent. Remember the tortise won, not the hare. I can't pick a favorite blog entry, I love them all. Your City Mouse, Country Mouse was well written. Of course anything with Charlotte is wonderful. It's just fun to see what's going on at the Whitmer home. Love Mom
ReplyDeleteThat's really neat. Yep! I contribute from Dallas but come August you will have some San Antonio on there. I use SiteMeter on my blog. Maybe I will look into Google Analytics, it seems like a better stat counter.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous= quality comments, if "anonymous" knew that the contest would be based on quantity, they would not participate.
ReplyDeleteI still love anonymous comments! I just wanted to give a special thank you to the people who comment so often. You can have the prize for the most mysterious comments. How about that?
ReplyDeleteHey! Where's Yuma, AZ on your list of cities? I check your blog quite often! I didn't know you could check the stats like that. That's fun.
ReplyDeleteYou're so popular! What a blog-nerd you've turned out to be.
ReplyDeleteAlso where's my prize for naming Whitmer Matters? (Notice people: Matt+Er (in) = Matters! : )
I have to admit I almost missed this post because of the more recent one. I check your blog pretty often but need to leave more comments, maybe it's due to the fact that I talk to you on the phone almost daily. Love the new wallpaper by the way. I need your help with google reader because I waist too much time checking blogs.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on a year on your blog. I'm actually in Chandler Arizona. Interesting staistics.
ReplyDeleteYes! I made silver! I'm so proud. :) You always have great posts on your blog. Charlotte is getting so big and so cute! I can't believe how quickly they grow up. And don't worry about the jumping thinning her out too much--she's only a pound and a half behind Brielle (who is 6 months older!)
