We love our dads!

Every one's Father's Day Posts inspired me... so here goes.

Doesn't her face just say it all! Can you see the resemblance? I call her a papa clone!
Charlotte's Super Dad
-loves his "girls" as he calls us
-always worried about her
-so proud of her learning to crawl after all his crawling lessons
-worked so hard to finish school and get a good job so he could provide for his family. He always says he has a job so he can have a family. That's the whole point to him, and I appreciate that we're the most important thing to him. Being a mom is hard work but so is being a dad. They have to go to work every day (for years and years) and miss out on all the little things the kids do. I feel so lucky that because of him I get to stay home with Charlotte and do my dream job.
-Takes care of the house and yard projects. When we were buying a lawn mower we couldn't agree on which one to get. Then he said, "Why do you get an opinion, I'm the one mowing the lawn." That sounded like a good trade off to me! I let him get his mower, and I've never had to touch it.
-Feeds Charlotte dinner and then clears the table... usually all before I'm even done eating. I'm really slow but getting faster thanks to Charlotte.
-Always willing to watch Charlotte so I can get out of the house.
-My best friend.
We love you Matt!

My dad

-Taught me to work and be independent, or at least he tried really hard despite many complaints. I remember checking the fluids in that old suburban EVERY single day before I would leave for high school, digging many holes (but not even a fraction of the holes he and the boys dug), burning weeds, watering trees, mowing the lawn... It's a long list. Can you see why I thought I'd be doing some of the lawn mowing? I'm not complaining though! I appreciate that he taught his daughters how to do the "outside" things too.

-Great with kids. I guess I should have realized this since he had 6 of his own, but it's a whole different world seeing him as a grandad. He's so good at playing with them, giving them candy, and holding them.

-Always has a project and a trip (inevitably huntin', fishin', campin') up his sleeve. I remember asking when we were ever going to go on a trip that we didn't have to camp. Can you tell I like modern plumbing? Our summer vacations are some of my best childhood memories. I still can't believe he got me to take hunter's safety classes. Sorry I never went hunting dad... but not sorry enough to go. At least I killed a gopher and some mice for you, right? I have a little of the killer instinct, when it comes to rodents.
-Loves my mom. I remembering hearing a quote that said something like- the greatest thing you can give your kids is to love their mother. I have many memories of him coming back to give mom a kiss goodbye for the day. They still hold hands. How cute it that? Of course I thought it was weird at the time.

I insisted that I wanted to see teeth in this picture! Can you tell which one is my dad and which is Matt's by the height difference!?

Matt's Dad

-Picture taker extraordinaire.

-So helpful. If he had a dollar for every time he's helped us work on our car or driven somewhere to support us he'd be a rich man. We appreciate how he's always willing to share his time and talents

-Proud grandpa

-Always made me feel so welcome in their family. The first time I met him I thought of how friendly he was.

-Showed Matt by example how to be a great dad and husband! Thank you, there's nothing like example!

My all time favorite Whitmer picture!

We love the hard working dads in our lives!

  1. Great post. Seth and I didn't agree on a lawn mower either. He wanted a push mower (no gas or electricity) so I let him get it as long as I didn't have to use it. I have mowed the grass a few times when he was out of town for training, but otherwise, it is his job!
